Wisconsin Riverfront Park

Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin

Once a thriving paper mill town, City of Wisconsin Rapids has been facing the familiar 21st century challenges as traditional industry has declined. Recognizing the trend, the city has taken positive steps to invest in the public realm in order to attract talented newcomers and private investment to the downtown area. As its first step, Supermass Studio was commissioned to prepare an actionable and comprehensive preliminary design for the public and recreational spaces along the riverfront.

Leading a team of engineers, lighting designers, and cost estimators, Supermass Studio developed design concepts, budget, and an implementation strategy for six key park areas along the river, as well as a bike trail system, all aimed to reconnect the city to its river in a sustainable fashion and initiate an economic renaissance for the downtown area.
