Seoul International District Waterfront

Seoul, South Korea

Supermass Studio’s design for the Seoul International District Waterfront reimagines the Tancheon–Han River confluence as a vibrant ecological and cultural park. Titled “Convergent Planes,” the proposal weaves city, nature, leisure, and culture into a resilient public landscape. The master plan connects major urban anchors such as COEX, Hyundai GBC, and Jamsil MICE through ecological corridors, terraces, and pedestrian bridges.

By naturalizing shorelines, creating wetlands, and integrating civic and recreational spaces, the project enhances biodiversity and accessibility. It transforms the floodplain into a dynamic, adaptive landscape—balancing flood resilience, urban connectivity, and ecological restoration at the heart of Seoul’s waterfront.
