Mill Basin Waterfront Development

Brooklyn, New York

Supermass Studio developed an ecologically driven site plan for a proposed commercial redevelopment of a former industrial site along the Mill Basin waterfront in Brooklyn. The plan transforms the underused shoreline into a publicly accessible “eco-walk” linking Mill Avenue to the shopping complex through a restored landscape inspired by Jamaica Bay’s native ecology.

Designed under NYC’s Uniform Land Use Review Procedure, the project integrates public circulation, seating, and picnic areas for both visitors and the community—opening a once-inaccessible waterfront while promoting walkability, ecology, and community engagement in a car-oriented area.
