Supermass Studio was commissioned to incorporate lively and dynamic landscape elements into the design of the new EWR Terminal A holdrooms and Welcome Center. Supermass Studio developed a design concept that simulates the five unique landscape regions of New Jersey throughout the terminal. For the holdrooms, plantings are incorporated into simple immersive people watcher planters. For the Welcome Center, Supermass Studio designed a unique oversized planter installation with seating in the shape of the state. The planting types recreate the New Jersey landscape regions and interpretive signage describe the unique ecologies that characterize those regions. For the project, Supermass Studio provided full-scope services for the interior landscape fit out ranging from conceptual design, bid documentation, to construction administration.
