Kew-Forest School

Kew Gardens, New York

Supermass Studio developed a comprehensive landscape vision for the Kew-Forest School, transforming an underutilized campus edge into a vibrant, multi-use schoolyard that supports play, learning, and daily student life. The design organizes the long linear site into a sequence of outdoor rooms—an edible garden, shaded seating zones, a central court, and a fitness and activity corridor—linked by a clear circulation spine that improves student flow and safety.

Colorful ground murals, court-game zones, flexible seating, and age-appropriate play equipment create an engaging environment for preschool through grade 12 students. Planting pockets, gathering areas, and movable furnishings give the school the flexibility to host outdoor classes, informal recreation, and community events. Together, these elements reimagine the schoolyard as an active, inclusive landscape that celebrates the energy and diversity of the Kew-Forest community.
