Brazil Oasis Agrarian Eco-Town Master Plan

Bahia, Brazil

Oasis Agrarian Eco-Town in Bahia, Brazil, is a master plan for an 11,000-hectare organic farming and residential community set within the ecologically rich Cerrado region. Designed as a model for sustainable, low-impact development, the project balances habitat conservation with responsible agriculture and community living.

Supermass Studio, as lead master planner, established a “Conservation Followed by Development” framework that prioritizes the preservation of sensitive forest and hydrological networks before defining development zones. The plan integrates renewable energy, water and waste recycling systems, and a mixed-use community structure centered around agricultural, infrastructure, and residential hubs—creating a self-sustaining model for future agrarian communities in Brazil’s threatened savanna ecosystem.
